UNDER 15 BULLDOGS

On Saturday we travelled to Clunes where we saw the kids put in their best performance for the year, where we were right in the game up until three quarter time , only to see Clunes kick four unanswered goals in the last quarter. This was really a great effort by the whole team with everyone contributing none better tha Nathan Parker up forward, who gave us a target to kick to and he never let us down in a best on ground performance. Up the other end Ted Cooper was an absolute wall across the half backline and had to be treated for leather poisoning after the game he got that much of the ball, young John Beveridge playing his first season of footy was great up forward, Nic Evagora continues to shine down back, Aaron Faulkhead is improving week in week out in the rocks and the usual hard working trio of Josh Clough Jacyob Paddon and Xavier Walsh, were good again. This game was very pleasing for everyone associated with team as the kids are under manned and out classed by most teams but as they showed again on the weekend, that they never give in, they never stop trying and they are prepared to stick together and play as a team and a win won’t be far away, WELL DONE BOYS YOU DID YOURELVES PROUD THE CLUB PROUD AND ALL OF OUR LOYAL FAMILIES PROUD. GO DOGGIES!!!

UNDER 18 BULLDOGS

In the top vs bottom fixture the Bulldogs came away with a thumping 30 goal win against an undermanned Clunes team. With Matt Bolton returning from the seniors to dominate in the ruck, Zac Tisdale moved into the forward line and was far too strong in the air and bagged 9 goals. E. Eyles controlled the centre clearances with key backman D Shewell performing well playing out of the centre for the day. Impressively the team continued to move the ball with precision throughout the game to keep their structure going to the final siren with all the 22 contributing well.

UNDER 15 BULLDOGS

On Saturday we ventured over to a very windy and cold Dunnstown, where we were unable to field a full team again but with the wonderful support from a family that has no direct contact with the club, sister and brother combination of Maggie and Fraser Lowe, put their hands up and made themselves available to help out a struggling team and to their credit and the teams credit both Maggie and Fraser performed admirably. The team was soundly beaten by a very skillful and bigger team but everyone of our players never stopped trying all day and even though the scoreboard might not suggest it, we were more than competitive but the sheer weight of numbers and fatigue took its toll in the end. Good team performances were put  in by our wonderful loyal Captain Josh Clough, who rucked tiressly all day he was well supported by his vice and deputy vice captains in  Alex Stein and Xavier Walsh who both worked hard, Liam Oliver was brilliant on his wing  and Jacyob Paddon continues to improve. The team is going through a tough time, we are struggling for numbers, but through the support of our Senior players and our hard working coach in Wayne, our loyal  families and the club in general, we will get through this rough patch, but what is most important is that we all stick together ,don t drop off, tough it out and by the year’s end, we will all be better for the experience, GO DOGGIES.

Daylesford Football Netball Clubs under 13 and under 15 netballers travelled to the very windy Dunnstown for Round Nine of the Central Highlands Football League. Although Dunnstown played fantastic netball the wind proved to be our toughest challenge for the day.
The Under 13¹s welcomed Lilly Kilbourne to the team for her first game of the season and she showed signs of being a very valuable and talented netballer. The girls fought hard and played four consistent quarters of netball. Ally Pyers and Maddy Johns moved well and put up some great shots however the wind proved to be too strong and made shooting a very hard ask.
The under 15¹s took to the court missing 3 of their defenders but were determined not to let this impact their game. Georgia Evans stepped up when asked and played a good game in defence, while first year player Sophie Shewell stepped up and lead the way in defence taking many fantastic intercepts. The girls attacked well and at times matched it with Dunnstown goal for goal.
Dunnstown ran out winners in both games, however the girls showed some great skills and great promise and look forward to travelling to Clunes on Saturday.

Round 8  vs Newlyn

UNDER 15 BULLDOGS

Daylesford Bulldogs played hosts to  Newlyn on Saturday in freezing conditions where we were unable to fill a full team and ran out with only 14 players which was to prove too big of a hurdle for the boys as they just run out of options but to their credit they never gave up and tried as hard as they could. Good performances were put in by Finn Anscombe who along with Josh Clough ran themselves ragged, Aaron Faulkhead was superb in the ruck Nic Evagora Ted Cooper and Sam Marshall  battled hard down back and Alex Evagora was good up forward. I am sure that if we all stick together and with players to come back from injury and unavailability we will turn our season around but most important that we don’t drop our heads keep fronting up to training and listen and learn and really want to help our teammates in all areas.

UNDER 18 BULLDOGS

The u/18 Bulldogs returned to the winning list with a big win over the Newlyn team  which battled hard to the end. In the cold conditions Aidan Mill set the ground alight  with a fine display of  powerful marking  and collected a bag of nine goals for his efforts.

The run out of the centre was excellent with Zac Tisdale shouldering the bulk of the ruck work providing good service to the hard running onballers in Dwyer,  Eyles and Cowan. Pat Murray provided plenty of drive with his long raking kicks and he was well supported around the ground by Lewis Ingham and Tom Cooper  who both had solid games. The Bulldogs were able to move the ball effectively in the tight with some slick hand ball  with the likes of Jesse Browne working hard in and around the packs.  Darcey Shewell and Patrick Helper in the back half  were very solid in defence repeatedly heading off the  Newlyn attack.

Score:  Daylesford   22.10  142 def Newlyn 1 .2.  8

Best: A Mill, P Dwyer, Z Tisdale, E Eyles, P Murray, D Shewell, H Cowan.

DAYLESFORD VS BALLAN

After a relaxed training session on Thursday, DFNC Junior netballers travelled to Ballan on Saturday and experienced less than desirable conditions. In cold, wet and windy conditions the girls played well and keep their heads held high despite the conditions.

The under 13′s had a tough game, but continued to develop their game plan and skills that they have been working on in training. After a tough first half, some changes were made and the girls showed how adaptable they really are. Lydia Edwards played a fantastic game in defence. While Katie Ballharrie shone in the wings, receiving Most Valued Player for the day. Maddy Johns and Ally Pyers both worked well in goals, and did not get disheartened by the low score. Izzy Vanzetta and Jenny Bosinger continued to improve in defence, and are developing into very skilled players.

The under 15′s had a tough game, but after much hard work in previous weeks really came together as a team, playing their best game of the season. Kelsey Mobbs and Kara Cooper both played brilliantly in centre court. Emma Thompson received Most Valued Player for the day after a fantastic game in defence, making many good intercepts and holding her position well. Sophie Shewell also did well in defence, and is becoming a great defensive player. Maddy Nettleton and Shyann Waters played well together in goals, and made the most of good communication. Eve Vanzetta was thrown out of her comfort zone and played a great quarter in centre, showing herself to be a versatile, skilled player.

All the girls should be congratulated on two fantastic games of netball, and are encouraged to make the most of the week off. We look forward to playing Newlyn in two weeks time. GO DOGGIES!!!

The Bulldogs U/15 travelled to Ballan on Saturday and experienced some unusual playing conditions in the form of extremely thick fog that made the spectacle a challenge for both players and supporters. The boys ran out with only 14 players and they performed absolutely magnificently in matching it with a bigger opponent right up to half time only to see Ballan with sheer weight of numbers run away in the second half. Tim Winzar and Nathan Parker were superb across half back battling hard all day were well supported by fellow backman in Nic Evagora who picked many kicks, in the middle we were well served by Xavier Walsh, Finn Annscombe,Jacyob Paddon and Josh Clough who just ran themselves into the ground and never gave up And up forward Alex Stein was superb in presenting himself all day. The whole team should be congratulated in that they never once dropped their heads kept trying hard all day and they responded to a very encouraging and understanding Coach. Well done boys. Next week is a League bye, so there will be no training Monday, but we will be having a pie night after training on Wednesday night .
