Grand Final Day

Well it has been twelve months and we have come full circle and this weekend we are back at the scene of some good and some bad memories. This Saturday at 10.30 the day kicks off with the Under 18 Bulldogs in their first Central Highlands Football Grand Final. Steve Cowan and Scott Winduss have had the boys up and running since the start of last November and the results have been obvious. With a hard running and well drilled team on the park, the Daylesford under 18′s have reached their first Grand Final since the mid 90′s. The funny thing about that team was that one of the current coaches, Scotty, was a member of that unit, along with current Senior footballers Luke Adams and Clayton Scoble. Lets hope the ‘Pups’ set the tone for the day, and can reverse the results on the only team that has beaten them this year, Ballan. With the wide open spaces of Northern Oval, the boys should be well suited to the ground and hopefully use their running game to perfection. Good Luck fellas.

Then to the senior game. Not much needs to be said about this one. With probably one of the greatest rivalries in country footy, the Bulldogs will look to avenge last years 10 goal smacking at the hands of Cross town rivals, Hepburn. This year we have seen two contrasting games. The first where the Bulldogs came away with an 87 point thumping of the Burras. The next game the boys seemed to be well off their game early and only clicked into gear half way through the third quarter. With lots of ‘what if’s’ about contentious marks and goals on the day, we were lucky to come away with a one point win and now the rest is history. So it has once again come to this and with two very different teams facing off compared to last year, lets hope the Bulldogs can come away celebrate what has been a fantastic year by Luke Beattie and his team. Go Dogs.
